These photographs record my history taking photos with a 50mm lens. The black and white photographs were taken in 1966/67 on my first serious camera - a Praktica IV and it had a humble Meritar on it that actually performed really well and allowed me to enlarge to 20 inches by 16 inches at times using Adox KB14. Moving forward to 2025 the colour photos are taken with a Leica M11 fitted with a 50mm f2 Apo Summicron.

Here the Praktica has captured a bridle path close to the house in which I spent the first 11 years of my life, this was taken when I was 18.

This was taken from a local woodland called Cocknage Wood looking at Florence Colliery with the town of Longton behind.
The nose ring caught my attention as I was walking by. I just asked if I could photograph it and he said yes.<br />

Most time people have no problem as long as you ask. I know it changes the dynamics of the scene a little but it works for the most part. <br />

I shot this with Kodak Ektar 100. It truly is such a fine grain film that it's hard to tell this photo from a low noise digital camera. I scanned this with a Minolta Elite 5400 II.
